Worship Often
God calls us to worship. We praise God for all God has done for us. Psalm 122 says: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’” You will discover that as you worship God, you will be nourished spiritually through the Word and Sacrament.
Remember Your Baptism
Our life of discipleship begins at Baptism. In Baptism, we are given the Holy Spirit and the promise of forgiveness and eternal life. Romans 6:4 says: “We have been buried with Jesus by baptism into death, so that just as Jesus was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in the newness of life.”
Receive Holy Communion
Disciples receive the Lord’s Supper often. As we share in the real presence of Jesus, we are also united with other Christians. Jesus said in Luke 22:19, “Do this for the remembrance of me.”
Read the Bible
The disciple of Jesus is an active learner. God’s Word gives guidance and direction for your daily life. Psalm 119:105 tells us, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path.”
Give of Your Time, Talents and Money
Disciples are stewards of God’s good gifts. God gives each of us resources to use to carry out God’s mission in the world. All gifts are important to building up the body of Christ. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
Live the Servant Life and Share Your Faith
Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others.” - Matthew 5:16. The disciple puts faith into action and daily work, as a citizen, in the family, as a neighbor.
Pray Daily
The life of a disciple is grounded in prayer. This is the source of our inspiration and motivation. 1 Thessalonians urges us to “pray without ceasing.”
